In a bid to make further provision for a more reliable service their commuters can enjoy, Britain’s largest bus operator, Stagecoach, has endeavoured to enhance its engineering standards. Stagecoach is the only major bus operator in the UK to put into place a new Engineering Management programme, to be undertaken by all existing and new bus engineering managers across the UK.

The outcome of the course will be to have higher standards of maintenance and help their customers benefit from an even better and more reliable service.

For the bespoke programme to run to completion, engineering managers are required to complete two modules over a period of two years, which is adequate time to allow them to apply what they learned in their working environment between the demands of the modules.

The training course has been officially recognised by the Institute of the Motor Industry, approved as a Quality Assured Programme as well.

Stagecoach UK Bus Engineering Director Sam Greer said: “The introduction of this training course further demonstrates our commitment to improving services for our customers. Through this programme, we aim to further enhance our engineering standards in a way that is tailored to the specific requirements of our business. Vehicle maintenance and reliability are crucial to the successful delivery of our services to passengers and I believe this training will benefit both our staff and our customers.”
